Identifying competences

You can use AI to understand your own skills. For example, write in your own words what jobs and tasks you have done and ask the AI to analyze what skills you have based on these. You may notice hidden skills or realize the value of highlighting competences that were self-evident. Use the competences analysis in your job search to ensure that you include your most important skills.

By the way, it pays off to be polite when prompting AI assistant. Tell them you rely on their expertise and their answers are crucial to your future employment. You may get better results!

Finding suitable jobs

Let the AI find the right jobs for you. Once you have outlined your expertise, you can prompt the AI to list tasks and jobs that demand your expertise. If you have an AI tool that can directly search information on the internet, you can also ask for links to interesting job postings.

Writing the application and CV

Copy the description of the job you are applying for into the AI chat and ask it to tell you what skills you should emphasize in your applications.

If the writer’s block strikes when you start writing an application, ask the AI to write you a draft application. Edit, supplement and personalize the draft with your own examples, achievements etc. Writing in cooperation with an AI assistant may be easier and you can get some new ideas on how to talk about your skills in interesting ways.

Remember, however, that AI does not replace you as the author of the application. Your application and CV may seem “bot-like” and are likely to be too generic if you use them as such.

Practice for a job interview

Enter the job description in the AI chat and ask for interview questions based on the text. Answer the questions and ask the AI to analyze your answers and give you tips on how to improve them.

Ask the AI to create questions that you yourself can ask during the interview. Tell the AI what kind of position you are applying for and what your key competence is related to the job. You can also provide your CV or LinkedIn profile. However, remember that if you enter your data – like a CV – into an AI, the data will remain at its disposal and you will not be able to know with certainty how it will be used later.

Also, do not rely on the AI while in an interview. There is no way you can focus on both the answers given by the AI and your own genuine thinking. If the AI both answers for and questions for you, your own thoughts and experiences will be absent from the interview discussion. Who is in the job search? You.

AI can provide valuable help in your job search, but your personality, skills and way of working are still crucial. These human qualities are what ultimately impress recruiters and help you find a job that really suits you.
